Zoomcare EMR Rebuild
Zoomcare is a Portland based company that aims to make healthcare accessible. Their motto is urgent care delivered when, where, and how you want it. They aim to revolutionize the field in every way possible, starting with their very own EMR. Zoomcare started with a very archaic system that became outdated very quickly and is very difficult to use. We were hired to help them rebuild a new user-centered EMR that streamlines patient care.

What We Did
We created an intuitive user experience and user interface design that ensured reduced intake processes and increased patient care time.

Through constant collaboration, user testing and interviews, we were able to build a system that was patient-centric .
Lean UX
With constant collaboration and testing at Lean UX’s heart, we made sure that we collaborated with developers, stakeholders and users from day 1 on this rebuild. We went to the clinics and made sure to speak with the healthcare workers who use the system everyday to understand their pain points and learn about their hopes and dreams for the new system. Based on these conversations, we collaboratively created sketches (of various fidelities) and user flows that we tested and continuously re-iterated on as we received new insights.
Usecase: Merging Patients
One of the biggest transformations came in the form of the merge patient usecase. Seemingly simple, the previous system handled this feature in a very complex way that was so confusing that users avoiding using it. In simple words, it was in a desperate need to be remapped. I created a user flow of how the current system operated (below) and aimed to make it much simpler. The flow was simplified into a simple and easy 3-step process that is accessible from only two places: The search screen and from the patient facesheet. The process was also made more intuitive with helpful instructions and indicators.
